Dear Potential Student:
I am adding this personal letter to answer questions you might hesitate to ask. My first recommendation to anyone wanting to learn this profession would be to choose a good school, whether mine or any other. A good school teaches the most modern techniques, using the most up to date equipment, that goes along with basic shoeing and balancing of the horse. I proved that improper imbalanced shoeing is dangerous to the life of the horse and the rider! The 6 Steps to Balancing the Hoof and Horse for Sound Shoeing is a program I designed that makes shoeing easier and faster to understand for students, farriers and horse owners. I turned that into "The Grammar School of Trimming and Shoeing Horses" for my students and now for the horse owning public.
After traveling throughout the United States as the president and executive director for the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association, I found that many schools are overcrowded. We can give more personal attention in a small class and my students seem to appreciate the attention. Students who graduate from my school are prepared to make a living in the farrier industry.
I also spend a great deal of time in lecturing about setting up your business. Most people do not know what is needed to run their new business. This is a high priority in my teaching and helping you start your new career as a professional farrier. I understand that many students are interested in shoeing horses so they can be near horses and the outdoors, but they should not neglect the business end.
Whether you have been around horses all of your life, or this will be your first experience in handling horses, you will enjoy learning about horsemanship training & handling along with one of the most important parts of the horse, the lower limb and hoof. Whether you want to learn to shoe your own horses or begin a new career, you will receive valuable information and learn a great deal about the horse.
We keep up with the latest in technology and new products on the market to make your work easier and faster. This profession is no different than any other, it is constantly changing and improving. I want you to receive the best possible education.
We pride ourselves on the quality of shoeing performed here and quality of the education received by the students. Thank you for considering this school and I hope to meet you soon.
Respectfully,
Ralph Casey
