Ralph Casey is a leader in the horseshoeing industry. He started his school with a small shed and one small forge in July 1989 with two students. He now has a list of students waiting to attend his school.
Channel 3 of Chattanooga, TN, commented "No wonder he is growing. He has taken an old trade and combined it with modern technology to improve not only the shoeing techniques but the students ability to learn faster."

Mr. Casey has the only Farrier School, in the United States that uses high speed cameras to document the horse's mode of travel. He developed his technique to allow students to view it in slow motion. Mr. Casey has been quoted as saying " It is time that the horseshoeing industry comes out of the dark ages. It is time that horseshoers (farriers) are looked upon as technicians and not as someone who tacks on a shoe.
These animals are alive and should be shod correctly." He has developed new techniques of correctly shoeing a horse that speed cuts without lowering the hoof wall. Mr. Casey explains, "Anyone who off balances the horse to perform any type of corrective work only does harm to the horse in later years to come." His new technique is proving to be a breakthrough for the longevity of the horse.

Casey is a Certified Master Farrier, Certified Master Educator and Founder of the nationally recognized Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association. He served as president, executive director, and founded the Farriers' Research Laboratory which is now the Farriers' National Research Center and School, Inc.. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the farrier industry including
The Horseshoeing School of the Year in 1992 through 2001 and inducted into the Farriers Hall of Fame in 1992. He has traveled extensively across the U.S. helping to educate the equine industry and horse owner's about the importance of the farrier's work.

He is a highly qualified individual in the farrier profession and a dynamic speaker who motivates any type of person. He has been written about in the Western Horseman and Equus Magazines. He has been seen on television talk shows, interviewed by national news networks and seen internationally on CNN news. He is recognized for his talent and ability in improving the shoeing of the problem horse which has advanced the farrier profession. Education and sound shoeing is his priority! This helps all horseshoers.


| Link has grown up in the horseshoeing world. He was only 2 years old when the school opened it's doors in 1989. Starting at age 13, he spent his summers assisting and gaining his farrier certification, beginning with Apprentice and up to Journeyman II at present. As of 2008, Link as taken on the position of a full time instructor.
As a youngster, he traveled the U.S. with his parents, promoting the school and farrier association. He has grown up around master farriers from all over the U.S. and other countries.

Link continues the tradition and art of horseshoeing and blacksmithing, and carries with him the knowledge handed down by his father, Ralph Casey.
Like many horse businesses, Casey & Son is family oriented. Our goal is to pass along our business strategies to each and every student, enabling them to succeed in their business after graduation.
